Thursday October 8th Lake Wainamu Circumnavigation. Meet at Bethells Beach at 10.30am for mainly level walk upstream to Lake Wainamu. Continue on bush trail round Lake Wainamu returning to the cars via the sand dunes. Bush trail is narrow with uneven ground in places. About 3 hours walking. Thursday Walk November 12 Waiuku From the Southern Motorway, turn off at the Drury exit and turn right off highway 22 at the Pukekohe Golf course onto Glenbrook Road. Stay on that road all the way into Waiuku where the road name changes to Kitchener Road. Turn right off Kitchener Road near the bottom of the hill into King Street where there is a car park on the right just before the round-a-bout where we meet at 10.30am. Thursday Walk October 22 WAIHEKE Palm Beach to Matiatia. We will catch the 10am ferry from Downtown Auckland and return on the 3pm. Take the bus to Palm Beach and walk back to Matiatia, around the coast, on part of the Te Ara Hura walkway. There are some steep hills and steps but the views are spectacular. Thursday Walk September 24 MANUKAU HARBOURSIDE: Meet in the car-park at Brylee Drive Reserve, Conifer Grove at 10.15 am. Trip will include a walk around the harbour edge of Conifer Grove and Pahurehure Inlet perhaps as far as Pescara Point. About 10kms or 3 hours flat, mainly coastal walking is involved. Pack Liners I was shocked yesterday when I observed an outdoor shop (who shall remain nameless) was selling pack liners for $19 each! At one stage in the club history someone was selling FMC pack liners. I propose to restart the initiative by accepting orders from club members. I would wait until sufficient numbers are achieved to order in bulk from FMC. I will be interesting to see what response - and from what source - I get for this proposal. 17 months ago
Hapū-a-Kohe Range - Sunday 18 August 2019 Hapū-a-Kohe Range - Sunday 18 August 2019 This will be the fourth of four planned tramps and will complete our exploration of the Hapū-a-Kohe Walkway which is in the North Waikato between Ohinewai and State Highway 27. We will start from North Road, Mangatarata, going south as far as time and conditions allow. Because the full track is rated 8 hours in good conditions it will be a there and return tramp.
