Come and explore the Central Plateau this Summer! Join the Alpine Sports Club summer camp tradition, complete with sing-songs, daily trips, fun activities, New Year's Day games and much more.
Summer Camp 2024-2025 Ohakune
Duration: Thursday 26th December 2024 - Friday 3rd January 2025
Our Campsite: Is in a long grassy paddock beside a fresh-water lake, 15 minutes drive from Ohakune. Approximately a 5-hour drive from Auckland
There will be at least two trips running every day, offering a variety of easy, hard, tramping, sightseeing or cycling options. Nearby Tongariro National Park has a number of tracks starting near Ohakune or the Ohakune Mountain Road such as:
- Mangawhero Forest Walk
- Old Blyth Track
- The Round the Mountain track
- Ohakune Coach Road
- Lake Rotokura Walk
There is also an onsite ridge-walk with fantastic views of the camp & surrounding landscapes.
Mountain Biking :Both the Old Coach Road & Rangataua forest blocks offer family friendly mountain biking.
Bring your own tent, gear and food. Port-a-loo toilets provided.
You need to be an ASC member to book a spot at Summer Camp. However, extended family and guests of members may attend, as usual. To book, contact Peter Jemmett via email pmc.jemmett@xtra.co.nz Please provide Peter with the names of all campers, ages of children/ teenagers, arrival and departure dates if known and contact phone numbers while at camp. Cost varies according to membership status. Adult members $13 per night.
